The canopy walk is one of the most exciting activities in nyungwe national park, Rwanda. It involves walking across a suspended bridge high above the rainforest, giving visitors a unique view of the forest from the treetops.

The experience begins at the uwinka visitor centre, where visitors meet their guide and receive a safety briefing. From there, you hike through the forest along the igishigishigi trail before reaching the suspended walkway

The walkway is approximately 160 metres long and 70 metres above the forest floor. As you cross it, you can enjoy panoramic views of the dense rainforest, surrounding hills and valleys. You may also see colourful birds, butterflies and, if you are lucky, monkeys moving through the treetops.

The activity combines hiking, wildlife viewing and adventure. The forest trails can be steep and muddy after rain, so comfortable hiking shoes and a light raincoat are recommended. The canopy walk is guided and is available throughout the year.

Overall, the canopy walk offers an unforgettable opportunity to experience nyungwe's ancient rainforest from above, making it a particularly good activity for nature lovers, photographers and adventure seekers.
