After an early breakfast, you set off on the scenic drive east across Uganda, passing through lively towns and changing landscapes as the country opens up toward the Karamoja region. With stops along the way to stretch your legs and take in the views, you arrive at Pian Upe in the afternoon, check in to your lodge, and settle in. If time and energy allow, an optional late-afternoon game drive or short walk lets you catch the reserve in the soft light of sunset before dinner and a restful night under the stars.
A full day to discover Uganda's second-largest protected area. A morning game drive takes you out across the vast, golden plains in search of zebras, elands, giraffes, and a variety of antelope, with the chance of spotting ostriches and an array of birds along the way. There is time to explore the reserve's striking scenery of rolling hills and rocky outcrops, and an optional guided nature walk or birding session offers a closer, slower connection with the landscape. As the day cools, an evening drive rounds off your time in this peaceful, little-visited wilderness.
This morning you leave the plains behind and travel the short distance to Sipi Falls, where the landscape shifts dramatically to the green, fertile slopes of Mount Elgon. The highlight is a guided hike around the three beautiful cascades, with stunning views over the valleys below. You also have the chance to explore the surrounding communities, including a visit to a local coffee farm to see how Sipi's famous Arabica is grown and roasted, and an optional abseil beside the main falls for the more adventurous. Overnight near the falls.
After breakfast and a final look at the Sipi scenery, you begin the journey back west toward Kampala or Entebbe. It is a long but scenic drive, with time to reflect on the wildlife, landscapes, and experiences of the past few days before being dropped at your hotel or the airport, where your safari comes to an end.
